There's no way, I could ever mention everything I am thankful for this Thanksgiving.....  Of course, my family, friends, my health, my dream job (I was 4 when I decided I wanted to work at WKDW,) and having food, drink, shelter... the things I couldn't live without.  Probably the thing that I'm most Thankful for, is my Little Brother Dalton.  Everybody knows that he is what keeps me going.  For over 4 years, he's been my Little Bro, my best friend, and so much more.  I do say a prayer of Thanks every day to God for putting us together.

Thanksgiving Memories

Growing up, and even today, Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday.  As a youngster, we'd have a family meal, where all my brothers and sisters would come over to eat.  It was always the traditional feast of Turkey, Gravy, Mashed Potatoes, Stuffing, Beet Pickles, Pies, Cake, Iced Tea.

We'd always eat at about 11am, so we had to get up early to get the bird in the oven, and I'd always get up to help my mom.  We'd stuff the bird in one of those oven bags, and get it going.  I, being a pretty good cook even early in life, was put in charge of Mashed Potatoes, Gravy & Beet Pickles.  I can make a "mean" pot of mashed potatoes and some pretty good gravy.  My specialty on Thanksgiving is Beet Pickles.  I'd take canned beats, vinegar and then add, whatever I could find....  The year I used Maraschino Cherry Juice and Cinnamon, they turned out best.

The best memories were cooking with my mom and then sitting down, as a family to eat.  We always ate more than we should have, but it was great food, fellowship and normally a lot of laughs and someone would do something embarassing!  (usually me!)

I lost my mom a few years ago, so I really miss cooking Thanksgiving dinner... but am so thankful and blessed that Dalton & his family invite me to partake in food and fun with them. 

If you still have your parents, enjoy the time you spend with them and the traditions while you still can.  Not a day goes by that I don't miss mine!
